Saturday Academy

The Saturday Academy is an innovative program that helps educate high school students in math, science, and technology by providing practical, hands-on learning experiences.

The Oregon Space Grant Consortium (OSGC) sponsors eight to ten high school students to participate in Saturday Academy's Apprenticeships in Science and Engineering Program for eight weeks during the summer. The program places students in an apprentice-mentor relationship working with scientists and engineers from the industry or at an OSGC affiliate.

Students are involved with various research topics ranging from the chemistry of the earth's atmosphere to optical physics to aerospace physics and engineering. In the summer of 2003 eight students and their mentors were fully or partially supported by Oregon Space Grant in the Saturday Academy Apprenticeships in Science and Engineering program.
