KBR NASA GeneLab Bioinformatician / Blue Marble Space Institute of Science (BMSIS) Research Scientist,

A Winding Path to Science and NASA

I am a biologist-turned-bioinformatician working with NASA GeneLab at the Ames Research Center in northern California. I focus primarily on microbial ecology in all kinds of different systems ranging from the bottom of our oceans up to the International Space Station. I received an Associate’s Degree in General Science from Ocean County College in New Jersey in 2011, a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Kean University in New Jersey in 2013, and a Ph.D. in Biology from University of Southern California in 2018. From there I went to NASA Ames Research Center for a post-doc for 2 years, spent two years funded by research grants, then joined NASA GeneLab full-time as a bioinformatician at the start of 2022.
