The Astronomy Club at Oregon State University is a student-led organization that focuses its efforts on public outreach, STEM education, and fostering a general interest in astronomy & space sciences. Over the past year, the Astronomy Club has hosted many events, including stargazing gatherings, lectures, arts and crafts, movie nights, and an Astronomy Open House for the public, which highlighted many STEM fields and how they relate to astronomy. The club also hosted multiple field trips for dedicated members, in which they went to the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, and the Pine Mountain Observatory – both of which helped to foster a sense of community and provided opportunities for STEM engagement. The club also participated in outreach events such as Discovery Days and the Girl Scouts of Oregon and Southwest Washington STEM Day. Throughout the year, club-led events attracted over 4300 members of the public to activities. These events all served to connect the astronomy-focused community in the Corvallis area and allowed the club to branch out, expand, and introduce the field to interested parties. The work this past year laid the foundation for the club to host more extensive outreach capabilities, with plans to expand into the areas surrounding Corvallis.
