Project Description

This senior project proposal was to build a CubeSat with members of the Rocketry and Aerospace Club to collect air quality data. However, the purchasing of the CubeSat was unable to be purchased within the timeline and we had to modify the project. The project will utilize a Grove Multichannel Gas Sensor v1 that will analyze the aerosols in the air. Additionally, the CubeSat will be equipped with a Adafruit PMSA003I Air Quality Breakout that detects particles in the following ranges:0.3-1.0 1.0-2.5 and 2.5-10 micrometers. This data will be transmitted down to a ground system using RF Modules Lora TRX module. This data will help determine air quality in terms of noxious gases in parts per million and particulate matter. This project testing phases will include ground testing to ensure that the sensors are collecting data. During the ground testing we will also ensure that the transmitter and receiver are working properly. The ground testing will essentially be a function check.
