Project Description
Recovery systems are any method of deceleration or capture of aerospace vehicles and their deployment mechanisms. This paper reviews different recovery systems, including the strengths and weaknesses of different braking devices and a comparison between pyrotechnic and electromechanical deployment mechanisms. Based on this review, a recovery system is recommended for the Portland State Aerospace Society’s 100 km rocket, Launch Vehicle 4 (LV4).
