Project Description

The AUVSIR RoverSub project is about to enter its official third year, and the progress made with design, team collaboration, grant work, organization, software, and many other facets have improved tenfold. We have maintained our focus on the RoverSub system, by not only developing creative and unprecedented prototypes, but also by laying an effective and very learnable foundation in the years following to ensure growth and improvements for all subsystems. From our successful goals at the RoboSub underwater autonomous competition, to our member growth, the improvements made were more impressive than any other year. We were able to show off our strategies at RoboSub, where our robustness and intuitive software allowed us to circumvent our technical and random chance issues, qualifying us for semi-finals despite only two of our eight thrusters working and our vision system crashing due to bugs. Through what we’ve learned at competition and with our influx of diverse, experienced members, we will further our knowledge of systems thinking and cross-disciplinary strategies. This year was highly functional and AUVSIR will only move forward from here.
