NASA Administrator, Jim Bridenstine announced "The next person from the US to step onto the Moon's surface will be a female astronaut from the current astronaut corps."

On Monday, April 29, 2019 the NASA Administrator, spoke at the “Future of Space” STEM event at NASA Headquarters in Washington, D.C. College students had the opportunity to ask panelists, NASA Administrator, Jim Bridenstine, NASA Associate Administrator for the Human Exploration and Operations Mission Directorate, Bill Gerstenmaier, and NASA Deputy Associate Administrator for Exploration, Steve Clarke, questions as well as speak with Nick Hague and Christina Koch, two astronauts currently onboard the International Space Station. The panel discussion was moderated by NASA astronaut Tracy Caldwell Dyson.
