Introduction

The Portland State Aerospace Society (PSAS) is an open source and extremely interdisciplinary student group and lab in the Portland State University Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science. Our teams use systems engineering best practices to build sophisticated amateur rockets, liquid fuel engines, and nanosatellites. For more information see https://www.pdxaerospace.org/ and https://www.oresat.org/. OreSat is a fully open source 1U - 3U CubeSat system meant to be built, modified, and flown by student teams. OreSat has everything you would expect from a CubeSat system: a 1 - 3U structure, multi-band deployable antenna, solar array, battery pack, on-board computer, radio system, star tracker, reaction wheels, magnetorquers, GPS receiver, and capability for a high speed S band radio system. The first OreSat satellite, OreSat0, is currently operational in low earth orbit. Two other OreSat missions are planned for October 2023 and early 2024.
