Introduction: 

The Portland State Aerospace Society (PSAS) is an open source and extremely interdisciplinary student group and lab in the Portland State University Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science. Our teams use systems engineering best practices to build sophisticated amateur rockets, liquid fuel engines, and nanosatellites. Position Description: 

Lead mechanical engineering position to oversee LV3.1 amateur rocket systems (electromechanical recovery system, airframe, CAD) and OreSat0.5 systems (reaction wheels, assembly CAD).

Position Responsibilities: 

This internship will be an intense, hands-on systems engineering and management position. You will help manage interdisciplinary teams of students anddevelop systems-of-systems including rocket recovery systems, satellite attitude control systems, and hardware-in-the-loop testing systems. You will oversee mechanical engineering students working on PSAS projects, teach MCAD (i.e., OnShape) and MCAD best practices to PSAS students. You will work directly with students working on all PSAS mechanical projects and oversee the mechanical aspects of the PSAS aerospace lab. You will work closely with faculty advisor and experienced industry advisors.

Required/Preferred Qualifications: 

Mechanical engineering major sophomore or higher, extensive experience with OnShape mechanical CAD, team leadership experience, and hands-on experience designing, fabricating, and testing mechanical systems.
