With the rapid growth of the STEM field, it is growing increasingly important for students to be well-versed in their STEM education. To meet this demand, NASA has provided educators with an abundance of resources and training. Even with these great strides, there is more that can be done to incorporate the presence of NASA in the classroom. A comprehensive NASA infused curriculum would allow full implementation of NASA priorities in education and further the exposure of underrepresented groups in STEM in hope of converging to an equitable education model. With phenomena-based learning being at the forefront of the development of the next generation science standards (NGSS), embedding NASA’s current missions into a curriculum would complement these growing strategies. Utilizing modern discoveries and cutting-edge engineering feats to introduce and teach new concepts, would assist in both captivating student interest and increasing the quality of educational strategies. This type of class would mesh well with ambitious science teaching (AST1) and the sheltered instruction observation protocol (SIOP®2) pedagogical strategies.
