Project Description

The University Class Open Ground Station (UniCLOGS) is a scalable, low-cost, and open source satellite communication system designed to be implemented by universities and low resource organizations. Designed and tested by students of the Portland State Aerospace Society (PSAS) at Portland State University, UniCLOGS is a system designed to be adaptable and accommodate most budgets and most low earth orbit satellite communication link budgets. Our project installed, tested, and refined electronics enclosure components for our “version 2”system. We upgraded specific components that were crucial to the operation of the ground station, such as the outdoor enclosure and Low Noise Amplifier (LNA). With the launch of PSAS’s latest satellite, OreSat0.5, we were able to evaluate the electronics enclosure components with real world communication tests. We were successful and able to maintain communication, a successful step in advancing UniCLOGS v2.
